Greetings, If you have been watching the Katrina disaster on TV, you have no one doubt been watching the ongoing news reports of the the plight of the people stranded in New Orleans. Are any of you as outraged as I am? Today is Friday, the fifth day that 30,000 people have been stranded in horrific conditions. This morning, we saw long lines of buses and military supplies coming in and there was a sense of relief that the suffering would stop. And now, around evening, I am watching the same scenes - with NO evacuations and NO food or water being provided. Even the police are now afraid for their lives and many have left and/or resigned. The possibility of a riot is very real. This situation is beyond intolerable. The government keeps telling us help is coming - and it's NOT. Bush tours the area and tells us that it's under control - and it's NOT. It's almost as if this whole scenario is being purposely "managed" to produce a worse case scenario of riots and death. Could this be a 21 century version of genocide? Allow people to die and just chalk it up to governmental incompetance? blogcritics.org/archives/2005/09/04/152144.phpI am contributing to the Salvation Army and I hope you do too. It's about the only thing we can do. That and keep praying! Ken Nagele

Ken,
I agree with you, I also agree that the Salvation Army is the best organigation to handle the contributions that are given to help with Katrina victims.
My biggest gripe with the Bush organization is, going into Iraq and tearing that place up and saying they are making things better when Saddam was no threat to us. look at all the lives that have been lost. I think they are doing the same thing in New Orleans, saying things are ok when in fact they are getting worse.
I guess they think by going there and hugging and shaking hands with people will make things ok. I don't understand it, Well, I do too, God is in control, not man. So, is it right for us to complain?? Even though I do.

Charlotte, Is it right for us to complain? Absolutely! This latest government debacle was more unchristian than just incompetent. By voicing our displeasure with the way this disaster has been handled, we are: a. Raising the consciousness of other citizens that the government's response to this emergency is simply unacceptable. Too many Christians are ready to placidly make excuses for the government's lack of effective and timely action, siting the enormity of the disaster as being overwhelming. Or write it all off as being the will of God or the fulfillment of prophecy. b. Raises the government's (both the legitimate and the hidden - ernestlmartin.com/#illuminati ) awareness that not all of the citizens are as dumb and easily manipulated as they would like to think. And, that there is a Christian contingent that knows the difference between right and wrong, and is not willing to be silenced. I am watching FOX News (the only channel that seems to be covering the story correctly) and they announced that 400 private boats were in place from the very start to rescue people on their roofs. It wasn't until the Army took over (days later) that they were even allowed to be launched! These debacles continue to be exposed as the rescue efforts go on. Like 9/11 ( ernestlmartin.com/#9/11 ), it will take months and maybe even years for the real story of what really went on behind the scenes to be exposed. And, like 9/11, it will probably not be a pretty picture. Ultimately, this is all in God's hands, though it is sometimes hard to understand events as they unfold. On the bright side, it does seem that massive help is finally coming together. Thank God! I'm glad to see there is at least one other person was as outraged as I was.
